SATURDAY, APRIL 2, 2016

Tracy and I left Chiayi and met up with Ariel at the Tainan High Speed Rail. Her cousin picked us up and together we went to Ten Drum. What was fun about this trip was that I didn’t plan anything. We were staying with Ariel’s family, so we went along with wherever they wanted to go. This actually turned out to be a good thing because it was like being shown around by a local!

TEN DRUM CULTURAL VILLAGE

Ten Drum is a creative park. It used to be a sugar refinery that they recently turned into a creative park. Let me tell you, this place is FUN! The place was huge and there was so much to explore. I can best describe it as an adult jungle gym.  They have tall slides that you can slide down (protective gear provided). There’s a small pond with large stones so you can walk on the pond.

The main attraction is the drum show. About 5 or 6 people are on stage and they do a drum show that is actually really good! I highly recommend checking them out. I think they also have a show in Hualien as well.

BEEF SOUP

When I told people that I was going to Tainan, everyone was saying, “Oh! Tainan has really yummy food!” They spoke of Tainan as if it were a different country with a different cuisine. My cousin will actually go all the way from Taipei to Tainan just for the food.  After the Ten Drum Cultural Village, Ariel’s cousin brought us to eat some beef soup.  It’s literally what it sounds like. It’s beef in a soup and people eat it with a bowl of rice and maybe some side dishes.  It was really good. Again, I’m glad we were with someone who could show us where to eat the good stuff.

SUPERMAN v. BATMAN

You would think that after the long day we had in Chiayi and Tainan that we would be pooped. Instead, we went to see a movie at 11pm. I felt so bad ass seeing a movie at 11. I rarely stay out late, so this was fun. The movie was also pretty good too. Tomorrow, we’re off to Kaohsiung!
