ADVENTURES IN YILAN PART 2

WHAT TO EAT IN YILAN

We had a late start on Sunday and sort of, kind of missed breakfast.  After getting ready for the day, Ariel drove us to a place where she buys duck.  I know, duck sounds gross, but it’s actually really good in my opinion.  One of the most famous Asian dishes is Peking Duck.  It’s delicious! Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.  When I eat Peking Duck in Taipei, the restaurant gets it from Yilan. Yilan is kind of know for its duck.

Anyways, we pull up to this stand and order one duck.  It’s not a restaurant, so there’s no seating.  They chop it up for you and they give you tortilla to make the duck burrito.  What’s neat about this, is that you get to eat the duck in all forms.  They leave nothing to waste.  You get meat that they shaved off, as well as skin.  And then they chop up the bones, and maybe sauteed it with some vegetables.  I’ll admit that it’s a bit harder to eat because of the bones, but still delicious.

LUODONG FORESTRY PARK

We ended up taking the food to Luodong Forestry Park and ate at one of the picnic tables.  It’s a beautiful place actually.  After we finished eating, we took a scenic stroll around the lake.  Along the way, you can also stop and listen to someone play the violin. He’s pretty skilled too. You can buy his CDs on the spot.

Don’t my friends look awesome?! They are my ride or die girls. So lucky and grateful to have them in my life.

MEIHUA LAKE

Ariel then drove us to Meihua Lake.  There’s quite a number of people there.  There’s stands selling ice cream and small Taiwanese snacks.  It’s another great place for walking and biking.  I guess Taiwan has a lot of those types of places.   And that’s our trip to Yilan! If you find other fun things to do in Yilan, comment below! I’d love to hear about it. 🙂
