That’s me, Tina.
Hi! I am a 20-something year old, born and raised in New Jersey, USA. I attended Boston College and graduated with a degree in Secondary Education. I started this blog in 2015 to share my passion and adventures with the world. So far, I’ve been to countries like Australia, Thailand, and Paris to name a few.
Upon graduating college, I moved to the other side of the world, a small Asian country called Taiwan. I signed up for a year of teaching elementary students in the rural Miaoli County. It’s no surprise that there wasn’t much to do there. That year, I met some great people who also liked to explore and together we travelled all over Taiwan. I looked forward to the weekends when we would go to new places. When I wasn’t teaching or planning lessons, I would plan trips and write blog posts, leaving my teacher duties to the last minute.
After a year in Miaoli, I moved to Taipei. My grandparents are in Taipei and I stay with them to save rent money. I got a more demanding job at a public middle school in New Taipei City, where my commute to work was and still is 50 minutes each way. I worked less on the blog as my teaching duties got pushed to the front.
It’s been 4 years since I took the job in Taipei. I love my job (most days), but recently I’ve been missing my blog and wanting more. I’m also not in the same head space as I was three years ago. I felt it was time for a re-branding. After annoying my family members with endless website names and thinking about it for months, I decided on Sprinkle Happiness.
I wanted a blog name that represented what I was about and the journey I was on. The name alone effuses positivity and good vibes. Once it got in my head, I couldn’t let go of it. I wanted the name to be something that could withstand time as I evolved as a person.
This space started as a diary of sorts with no audience in mind but to record my experiences for when I would inevitably forget when I got older. You can see this in my early posts. But that’s no longer the case. I truly believe happiness is an important part of life. I want to help others be happy and the people around them to be happy, so that it’s a huge domino effect. I think the best way to share happiness is to be happy myself and do what makes me happy. If I’m doing what makes me happy, I can inspire others and pave the way for them to discover their happiness. What makes me happy? You guessed it, TRAVEL!
So, I’m sharing my travels because that’s what I love. I hope this blog can inspire women to feel comfortable traveling solo. I hope this blog can make you smile as you read about my mishaps, stumbles, and lame dad jokes. I hope this blog helps you to discover your happiness, whatever it may be.
Currently, my happiness looks like working a full-time job at a public school in Taiwan, integrating travel on weekends and holidays, and developing healthy habits at the gym during the week.
Get ready, because I’m sprinkling happiness your way!
Tina
