Lazy Sunday

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2015

I planned on going hiking in the morning, but my body wanted to sleep in.  🙁   Maybe next time.

City Life

My grandparents usually eat lunch at 1pm.  They’re really good at the whole eating 5 hours apart.  Well… as we were walking to the MRT station, we passed by some march/parade.  There were a bunch of people dressed in uniforms and they had occupied the road.  There were people on the side sitting and watching.  I also noticed that they were waving flags.  I immediately jumped on that and thought, “I want a flag!”  They were American flags and a flag with the Taiwan island on it.  I am happy to report that I’ve obtained said flags.  My main thought was, “now I have an American flag to wave at U.S. sporting events.”  The reason for the march is less clear, but I took a lot of pictures with my grandparents, courtesy of my aunt.

My grandma and I

That’s one of the reasons I love Taipei.  There’s always something happening and a lot of nooks and crannies to explore.

Lunch

My grandmother wanted to eat at some small restaurant on the second floor of Taipei Main Station, but the wait time was 2 hours even at 1:30pm.  So we ate at another restaurant called Bowls.

Long story short, we ate lunch at 2pm.  It took a long time for the food to come out.  But it was really good.  But I don’t think I’ll go back.  The dishes were also kind of expensive for Taiwan standard.  By the time we finished eating, it was 3pm.  And we had to all eat together again at 6pm for our weekly Sunday dinner.

I can’t find them anywhere online, but the menu was mostly korean bbq.

I thought to myself that if I’m going to have two big meals in one day, I’m going to have to do some walking.  So after lunch, I took the MRT to Gongguan and walked around.  I walked by the water park and paid 50NT to go to the Museum of Drinking Water.  It was definitely not worth it.  I’m not quite sure why I thought the it was going to be fun.  I mean, where in the name, Museum of Drinking Water, sounds fun?

Beautiful exterior, right?!

My main reason for going was the exterior of the building.  It’s actually really pretty, but the sun was setting behind it, so the lighting was not ideal to take pictures.  I was expecting that I might spot someone taking wedding photos there, but instead there were a few ladies dressed up in costumes. I think they were having a cosplay photoshoot.

Then, I made my way to the restaurant to meet my dad’s side of the family for dinner.  Unfortunately, it was less than 3 hours since we finished lunch, so I did not eat much.
