DECEMBER 1, 2015 ~ DECEMBER 4, 2015
Other than the fact that my birthday is exactly two months away, the Miaoli High Speed Rail just opened on December 1st.
Miaoli High Speed Rail
Inside the station, they’ve also opened a Family Mart, Starbucks, and Mos Burger.
Mos Burger is like the Japan version of McDonald’s. I’ve never had it but they’re all over Taiwan. So, I decided to lose my Mos Burger virginity on December 1st, 2015. The verdict? It was okay. The sandwich was pretty good, but it was small. The fries were like steak fries but without the salt. Why is there no salt? 🙁 I think because of the price, I personally didn’t feel like it was worth it or anything special. However, I did get a free Mos Burger folder out of it 🙂
It looked and tasted like Bulgogi, which I love! But I’m not fond of the price. |
The opening of the new High Speed Rail Station also means more buses! Yes! I rely heavily on public transit so to find out that there are more options, I can go to more places. YAY!
RJ and I are especially happy with the new high speed rail shuttle that takes us from the station to Miaoli Train Station. It’s free and it drops us on the side of the station closest to our house. #winning
Month of C!
My co worker RJ has been preaching the letter C to me. Christmas! Caroling! Christ, Claus! He’s extremely excited for Christmas.
On Wednesday, I came home to an amazing surprise. My landlord had decorated the lobby of the apartment with Christmas decorations! This made me so happy!!! I’m amazed and excited to see that my landlord spent the time and money to get Christmas decorations and that he put it up. I know it wasn’t particularly for me, but Taiwan doesn’t celebrate Christmas. People don’t get Christmas off. So to be able to come home to a Christmas filled lobby made my heart happy.
Mosquitos, No Biting!
Some mosquito snuck into my room and bites me at night when I’m sleeping. As much as I tried not to get a mosquito net (I was in denial), I decided it was time and I didn’t want to get bits on my face anymore. So, I asked my aunt to help me order a free standing mosquito net online. I’ve just received it and it took me a good 20 minutes to figure out how to set up. I’m really proud of myself, especially since I’ve never had to set up a tent before.
I’ve mosquito proofed (sp) my bed 🙂 Please ignore the mess. |
Pigeon Found
If you’re missing a pigeon, it’s in our office. To make work more interesting on Thursday, a pigeon landed outside of our office. We brought a box outside to let the bird hide in it because it looked cold. This was a very smart bird. Instead of going into the box, it walked through the door and into the office as if it was perfectly normal.
One of my co workers noticed that there was a tag on its leg, so we suspect it has an owner somewhere. We let the bird walk around. It cleaned our office as it walked on every piece of dust in the office. It’s poor feet were just covered in dust bunnies.
It was also distracting though. We had to be very careful and not move our chair and run it over. Every 10 minutes someone in the office asked, “Where is it?”
At one point it was getting a little too aggressive. It hopped onto our computers and then started to fly at me. 🙁 I don’t do birds.
But, I got a video of it before we shooed it out of the office. Later, one of the students, who is apparently a bird enthusiast, said the number says that it’s from the Taoyuan region of Taiwan. Status of bird now is unknown.
